EAAP session 2018
We are happy to invite you for our session at the EAAP 2018 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The session will take place from 8:30-12:30 on 29th of August and is entitled:
“How can animal breeding contribute to sustainable and global animal production”
Animal proteins are an important part of the balanced human diet. Despite a possible decline of meat consumption in Europe, the sector is facing the future challenge to meet a growing demand for animal food. This growth in demand is caused by a growing world population in general, but also by increased prosperity in third countries allowing a better animal protein input in their diet. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that the sector can assure sustainable animal production.
European and international animal breeding have contributed substantially to the increase of animal food production in the past decades, and are as such concerned with sustainability considering farm economics, animal welfare, and the environment. The question is how animal breeding could continue to contribute to a sustainable global food production with the challenges we face in the coming 30 years.
During the session, several speakers will present ideas regarding sustainable solutions for their animal sector, followed by an interactive plenary discussion. After the session there will be a free networking lunch to continue the discussions. If you would like attend the networking lunch, please register through this link. .
We hope to see many of you there!
